Olivier Mosset
Biography
Olivier Mosset (b. 1944 in Bern) is one of the foremost exponents of postmodern geometric painting. In 1965, at the age of 21, he moved to Paris, where he helped launch a radical new approach to painting. He was briefly a member of the BMPT group (along with Daniel Buren, Michel Parmentier and Niele Toroni), but fell out with Buren when, in an early act of appropriation, he copied Buren’s striped pictures. Mosset moved to New York in 1977, where he influenced a younger generation of artists that included Sherrie Levine.
