Stefan Hartmaier
Biography
Stefan Hartmaier (b. 1960 in Apfelstetten in the Swabian Alps) actually got a chance to try out Mesmer’s flying bicycles when he was still a boy. While studying at the Akademie der schönen Künste in Stuttgart he became friends with Gustav Mesmer, photographed a great many of Mesmer’s pictures and showed the photos in his first exhibitions. In 1996 he and his friend Martin Mangold founded the Gustav Mesmer Foundation, which administers the estate to this day.
